Surprisingly SBI !!

Dunno how many of u have seen this campaign by SBI... Surprsingly SBI.The huge hoarding at Adyar and the ad in today's paper sure did catch my eyes. Wat caught my eyes was not just the immensity of the hoarding or the newspaper ad, but the words Surprisingly SBI. I can't decipher y a bank of such credibleness, one of the oldest wid a mindboggling customer base(they themselves have stated it in one of the ads- it has more customers than the population of Australia), use the word SURPRISINGLY. It shows the amount of diffidence they have in themselves... Aren't they positive that they r the best? Did they use it jus to make it alliterative?? But there r so many words beginning wid 'S', that can mark their surefootedness n wud make it alliterative too. R the ad makers at a loss of congruent words?

Wat I vehemently feel is that a bank of a such a standing must have used the words 'NATURALLY' or 'OF COURSE' or 'SURELY' or somethin akin to these.

hi deepa..
you really read my thoughts..cos i was at adyar today morning and was seeing the ad..and was wondering how come a large and reputed bank like SBI use the word "surprising"..looks they have some inferiority complex...
also saw the ad in The Hindu too..i think SBI selected a wrong ad agency..hmmm.

i personally feel "surprisingly" is actually used to mock at the other banks....jus try thinkin on these lines..wen i came across this ad, i thot they were sayin surprisingly sbi cuz they were so sure n confi on wat they were sayin, n also meant that no other banks can come out li that...so its like wow...surprisingly sbi can do it...try givin more stress on sbi in the prev sentence, u wud know wat am tryin to say..

to aparna-
one of their ad says "do u know with whom most of the corporates bank with? surprisingly SBI." how r u to take this? any person readin it wud obviously decipher it as SBI itself is surprised that most corporates bank wid them. no one wud think that "haan, well,no bank has acheived dis.. SBI has surprisingly acheived this big thing". n if i give more stress to SBI in that line, it all the more boils down to the same thing. they mean that SBI is thought to b an inferior bank but they have achieved some things, which is a bit of a surprise.ha ha.. wat an amount of confidence!!

@bloggerbeura
am not a customer of SBI but i still feel the word surprisingly is ill-fitting, cos its not that u have to b a customer to know abt a bank... n u can't make separate ads for customers n non-customer, right?

Hi Guys

Have you seen the new TV commercials of SBI. They are cute ones. Specially the Chiman Lal Charlie one.

The Car Loan ad (with the man in red shorts and a suit) is really out of the box. Nice ones.

I hope their next offerings are also as attractive and creative.

I am keeping my fingers crossed

Hi all
Had it been obviously sbi or surely sbi we would not have discussed over it . Just read and forget. The word surprisingly sbi is kind of campaign where on people should think why surprisingly because bank want people to talk about them. Be in the circulation contineously . This is the type of campaign sbi has opted deliberately with intension of becoming popular.

SBI ad is like an old man wearing clothes to a disco attempting to woo girls!! No wonder it is surprisingly making itself an object of joke!!
SBI surely has many things to boast of. TG is an absolute excuse to state something stupid!

Thats true. "Surprising" but what better do you expect out of a PSB.
Anyway, the 'challenge/shart' series were reasonably creative !
